Topaz

Topaz is a well known silicate mineral of aluminum and fluorine named after the Greek island Topazios, though ironically what they found on the island was Peridot not Topaz. Topaz comes in quite a few colors including blue, green, pink, brown, orange and the rarest variety is a yellow amber color called Imperial Topaz which is actually very sensitive to sunlight! Sunlight can discolor imperial topaz. Topaz is found in quite a few regions but primarily in Brazil, Pakistan, Russia, Mexico, USA, Australia, and Sri Lanka. Topaz are notorious for creating some incredibly large specimens! With the exception of the rare varieties Topaz can be a cost effective way to make beautiful jewelry as they are generally very affordable comparable to many other gems in the same size
