Tanzanite Specimen

Tanzanite is a type of Zoisite and is prized for its unique vivid intense periwinkle blue-purple color that nearly looks like it glows. Tanzanite is a single source gem meaning it only comes from one country which is Tanzania. Its becoming increasingly more rare because it only comes from a region thats only about 8 square miles wide around Mount Kilimanjaro and less are being found. Its a trichroic stone so you should see 3 distinct colors from different angles of viewing. Most Tanzanite is heat treated and comes out of the ground a sort of brown color, definitely a show stopper for jewelry
