Muonionalusta

Muonionalusta gets its name from Muonion River in Norrbotten, Sweden and to have likely come from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Its a type of fine Octahedrite type IVA, meaning it is primarily made of iron and nickel with trace amounts of other elements like Triolite, Chromite, Akaganeite, Germanium, Gallium, iridium, dabreelite, schreibersite and kamacite. This type of meteorite creates its notorious pattern called a Widmanstatten pattern which happens when the iron and nickel in the molten cores of meteors begin too slowly cool over millions of years. The slow cooling is the key to the pattern in which the iron and nickel crystalize into two distinct alloys and separate
