
Moldavite
Moldavite is a forest green tektite which is a natural glass made of silicon dioxide like most glass or Quartz found on earth which fuses and forms from the intense heat and pressure of a meteorite impact on earth. The green color comes from trace elements of iron oxide within the glass and its notorious shape is a result of the instant impact and reformation. Around 15 million years ago a large meteorite struck what is now Germany instant forming the silica and various trace minerals and ejecting them miles away where it is exclusively found today in the Czech Republic in a relatively small area. Moldavite is highly sought after and is one of the most fakes gems out there and without a trained eye can be very difficult to tell apart from naturally formed material so always make sure to buy from a recapitulate source!
