Moissanite
Sometimes reffered to as “Diamonds Of The Sky” or “Diamonds Of The Stars” is often confused for diamond, Moissanite is its own gemstone with its own unique characteristics and naturally come from meteorites unlike diamond which is made on earth. Diamond is made of carbon but Moissanite is a silicon carbide, so it is chemically similar but a different mineral none the less. Diamonds are singly refractive meaning when light enters it leaves the same way and Moissanites are doubly refractive meaning when light enters it splits into two, so you tend to see double of everything in it. They are the second hardest gem just under diamond but don’t exactly sparkle like a diamond, your average person might struggle to tell the difference but they have flashes of rainbows more like a prism and less like little specks
Moissanites can sometimes fool diamond testers due to their similar chemical structure so rely on other identification methods! Natural Moissanite is incredibly rare and would be brown if you found it so basically all Moissanites are Lab grown which makes it the most durable and affordable diamond alternative
