Geodes
Geodes are natures kinder eggs, crack them open and get a unique surprise every time. They are often unassuming rocks on the outside with a mini world of crystal caves inside. The story of a geode begins with cavities in primarily volcanic or sedimentary rock caused by gas bubbles in the lava or dissolution of other minerals prior. Overtime various mineral rich ground water seeps into these cavities and as the water slowly evaporates it leaves behind those minerals which will crystalize inside the rock. The crystal variety can change drastically depending on the minerals that were deposited inside them with the most common being different varieties of Quartz
Some geodes actually still have some water trapped in them and that water can be millions of years old and people actually collect that water! Its not always rocks you find geodes in but sometimes even fossilized wood an even coral can have these pockets of crystals. Geodes are one of the most universally loved crystals to have. Being surprised by a mini world of crystals that tells a million year old story in so many shapes, sizes and colors never gets old
