Diamond LAB
LAB diamonds as the name suggests is real diamond but grown in a laboratory by mimicking nature. They are not fake or worse quality, if anything they are far better quality because the ingredients are pure and nature is dirty. Matter of fact, many gems can be grown in labs now with some being used in scientific equipment like LAB rubies for lasers
The 2 most popular ways LAB diamonds are made is CVD and HPHT
Method 1. CVD (chemical vapor deposition) is where a slice of an earth mined diamond is placed in a vacuum chamber and all air is removed. A mixture of gasses like methane and hydrogen are introduced under pressure and heated to high temperatures which breaks down to carbon. The mined diamond acts as a seed as the carbon grows more diamond on top. This method tends to take slightly longer and color and clarity vary more due to the seed being natural
Method 2: HPHT (high pressure high temperature) in which graphite is placed under nearly 1 million pounds per square inch of pressure and heated up to 2,200°C or 4,000°F. That will cause the carbon to form into a diamond. This method is faster and produces very pure high quality diamonds
