
Axinite
Axinite is a rare gem with some of the most extreme pleochroism of any other gem. Most pleochroic gems you have to turn it at various angles to see the different colors and hues but with Axinite it’s a dramatic display even in a stationary position. There is an intense captivating dance of golden browns, bronzey oranges, brassy yellows,and even hints of red or green with some even more rare varieties having blue. It gets its name from the distinct crystal shapes it grows in looking like an axe head. Axinite is currently found in France, Mexico, Tanzania, Russia and the U.S. These are incredible stones that feels like a surprise every time you look at it, the longer you look and move it around the more colors just seemingly appear its truly incredible
