Agate

Agate is a banded variety of Quartz called Chalcedony
It is made when silica rich water flows into volcanic and sedimentary rock cavities leaving behind layers of silica and other minerals creating unique banded patterns that come in a wide variety of colors. Sometimes that water seeps into a rock itself and makes an agate geode!
